Scott Fordham leads Champion Energy as President and Chief Executive Officer, drawing upon extensive hands-on experience in P&L, operations, sales and marketing, business development and accounting/finance. During his career, he has been associated with a number of dynamic business enterprises and entrepreneurial ventures. Prior to joining Champion Energy, Scott was co-founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of NetVersant Solutions, a privately held multi-location provider of comprehensive and integrated network infrastructure solutions serving major vertical markets such as financial services, retail, healthcare, education, transportation and technology. Prior to NetVersant, he was Executive Vice President - Operations of publicly traded Consolidated Graphics, Inc. (NYSE: CGX), where he was involved in the day-to-day operations and supervision of operating units across the country, as well President of Chas. P. Young Co., a financial printer and wholly owned subsidiary of the company. A certified public accountant, Scott’s career began at Arthur Andersen LLP where he held various positions, most recently as Senior Manager of the firm’s audit practice. Scott holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas, serves on the Board of Directors of Georgia-based Blaze Recycling & Metals LLC, which specializes in the process of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, and Texas-based Soarion Studios LLC, an independent software developer that creates high-end video games.
Senior Vice President – Origination, Chief Marketing Officer
As Senior Vice President – Origination and Chief Marketing Officer, Mike Smith is responsible for indirect and direct commercial sales teams in the deregulated markets Champion Energy serves. With more than 19 years of experience in the unregulated power and natural gas industries, Mike was previously a founding partner of Mpower Energy Services, LLC, an asset management business ranked 22nd nationally based on competitive power demand. Mike also served as Dynegy’s commercial representative for originating and negotiating natural gas and power sales, purchases and management agreements for long-term transactions in the Gulf Coast region. With a Bachelor of Business Administration from Oklahoma State University, Mike’s career began at El Paso Energy, where his duties ranged from natural gas transaction accounting, transportation and risk management, to origination/natural gas marketing, physical trading and arbitrage.
Senior Vice President – Operations
Michael Sullivan serves as Senior Vice President – Operations, with responsibility for enrollments and collections, billing and contracts, the customer call center, wholesale supply and risk management. Prior to joining Champion Energy, Michael was a founding partner of Ambridge Energy, LLC, which merged with Champion Energy in June 2008. Prior to founding Ambridge, he held several roles at Reliant Energy, including front and back office operations, marketing, commercial and industrial sales, and forecasting. Michael’s career began at Andersen Consulting after he earned a Bachelor of Science in finance from the University of South Alabama and a Master of Business Administration from Baylor University.
Vice President – Market Development and Regulatory Affairs
As Vice President – Market Development and Regulatory Affairs, Brenda Crockett spearheads key issues associated with Champion Energy’s expansion into new deregulated markets. She served previously as the company’s Director of Retail Operations. After graduating from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting, Brenda’s career began in 1986 at Enron Corp. where she worked in the accounting group for West Texas Gas Pipeline and Enron Marketing and Trade. Brenda later joined NGC Corp./Dynegy Inc., working in a range of capacities: accounting, gas scheduling, transportation marketing and natural gas trading, including Senior Director of West Natural Gas. In Brenda’s most recent role as Senior Director of Retail Operations for Dynegy Energy Services, she was responsible for customer enrollment, customer service and billing system development. Brenda served as a voting member of the ERCOT Retail Market Subcommittee during the market opening and subsequently held the position of Vice Chairman of that committee.
Vice President – Residential
Allison Wall serves as Vice President – Residential. Prior to joining Champion Energy, Allison served as Chief Operating Officer for Potentia Energy, responsible for founding the company and spearheading its Texas market entry. She also served as Vice President at Gexa Energy, with varying responsibility over her five-year tenure, for operations, billing, enrollments, transaction management, customer care and residential marketing. Earlier in her career, Allison held several roles at Reliant Energy. She holds a Bachelor of Science from Clarkson University, a Master of Science from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Master of Business Administration from Tulane University.
Director of Operations
John Ballenger oversees the day-to-day operations of Champion Energy’s customer care center, billing and collections. Prior to joining the company, John worked at 3M Oil & Gas as MBA consulting talent through the University of Texas’ McCombs ENHANCE Project. He was also an Execute Team Leader at Target Corporation, spearheading the research and analysis of key performance metrics. During his academic career at Texas A&M University, where John earned a Bachelor of Arts in communication and was a member of the Corps of Cadets, he was associated with several leading communications companies as a sales account executive.
Chief Financial Officer
Mike Slaughter, Champion Energy's Chief Financial Officer, is an experienced executive with a finance and accounting background in various public and private companies, public accounting, initial and secondary public offerings, acquisitions and other capital markets transactions. In addition to accounting, financial reporting and treasury, Mike also oversees human resources and legal issues. Mike joined Champion Energy when the company was acquired in 2008 as a portfolio company of Crane Capital Group, where he was involved in investments and acquisitions. Earlier in his career, Mike held various key financial positions, most recently as Principal Financial Officer and Chief Accounting Officer, at Eagle Global Logistics (NASDAQ: EAGL), a leading provider of global transportation and logistics services in more than 100 countries. Also founded by James R. "Jim" Crane, Eagle was sold to Apollo Management in a leveraged buy-out transaction valued at $2.2 billion. A certified public accountant with a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas, Mike’s career began at Price Waterhouse, where he held various positions, most recently as senior auditor for public and private entities in the services, manufacturing, financial services and construction sectors.
Vice President – Chief Information Officer
Brad serves as Chief Information Officer and oversees all information technology aspects at Champion Energy. With more than 19 years of demonstrated achievements in providing long-term value for multi-million dollar companies, Brad most recently served as Vice President of Information Systems and Technology at NetVersant Solutions, a national provider of comprehensive and integrated converging IT solutions. His career also includes service in the global software industry at Oracle Corporation, the world's largest enterprise software company. At Oracle, Brad was Practice Manager in the Houston Applications Technology Consulting practice and worked with a diverse mix of companies and industries deploying and implementing the Oracle technologies and applications. He is experienced in opportunity management, resource optimization, strategic business planning and issue escalation. Brad holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in computer information systems from Stephen F. Austin State University.
